Unfortunately, accidents happen when you have pets. Puppies are more prone to accidents, but they can happen with adult dogs. It's important to properly and quickly clean up all accidents.
Once an animal has had an accident in an area, it's essential to use the right products for pet odor & stain removal. First you must find the stain. If you can't see it with your eyes, try using a black light. A black light will show even old urine stains. Use a paper towel to soak up as much urine as you can to reduce odors. Place paper towels over the stain then put newspaper on top of that. Stand on the newspapers for at least a minute to soak up more liquid. Then you must use a product specifically designed for pet odor & stain removal. Household cleaners and carpet cleaners will not neutralize the odor. After you clean up the mess, you might consider putting the paper towels in the litter box or outside where you want the dog to go.
When training a pet to use the litter box or go outside, you must be consistent. Every mess must be cleaned immediately and using the proper pet odor & stain removal products to completely get rid of the stain. If your pet continues to have accidents, you may need to retrain him to go to the litter box or outside.
